The fortepiano used in this recording is the first ever to be designed for left-handers. In 1997 Chris Seed commissioned the Dutch firm Poletti & Tuinman Fortepiano Makers to build him a mirror copy of an 1826 Graf fortepiano. The instrument was exhibited at the Bruges International Music Festival in July 1998 and Chris Seed gave the world première performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London in February 1999.

"He plays with total command and freedom ... to date the best recording of the Eclogues ... an original pianist on a very special instrument."
Fonoforum, Germany

"The unique instrument is a fine, non-strident reproduction of a Graf fortepiano ... Chris Seed plays with sensitivity and particularly good tonal control."
International Piano Quarterly
